How does Aromatherapy Massage work?
When essential oil molecules are inhaled they affect the limbic system of the brain. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. Inhaling essential oils can affect heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion and the immune system.
Essential oils are also believed to be absorbed through the skin. Each essential oil has different healing properties.
Who can benefit?
Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to people with conditions involving stress or emotions, for example insomnia, headaches, digestive disorders, premenstrual syndrome and back pain.
What can I expect during an aromatherapy massage?
After a short consultation, your therapist will select one or more essential oils and mix these with the base oil or lotion. The subtle aroma of the essential oils will fill the air around you during the massage. Afterwards the therapist may suggest a blend that you can use at home in between treatments.
